Voltex conquers our third continent as First Quantum Minerals awards us the MV Protection and Power SCADA Design for their Cobre Panama project. This Copper Mine located 120 kilometres west of Panama City and 20 kilometres from the Caribbean Sea Coast, is the largest new copper development in the world!
The project involves three open pits with ore mined and processed by crushing, grinding, flotation recovery, and concentrate dewatering. A 230kV power transmission line links the port facility and process plant.
The project also includes the construction of a 300 MW power generation plant at the port. Voltex’ scope includes the MV down to the LV Incomers Protection and IEC61850 Power SCADA System design for 160 Switchboards and 343 protection relays at the Plant, and 19 Switchboards and 66 relays at the Port, as well as 47 outdoor substations and reclosers.
